Diamond Jubilee of the parish celebrated. On this occasion it was mentioned that the parishioners should quarry and haul stone for the proposed new church. The people responded enthusiastically.

Last Mass in the Old Church. (Moved to the third floor auditorium of the parish school for services.)

Clearing of the site for the new church

Navarro Construction Company of Pittsburgh begins excavating

Feast of the Assumption, Patronal feast of the parish, blessing and laying of the cornerstone for the new church

Solemn dedication of the new Saint Mary's Church with His Excellency John F. Dearden, Bishop of Pittsburgh, officiating

New Sanctuary furniture, that was ordered in June 1955, arrived and installed

The first four large stained glass windows installed by Rambusch of New York

Stone shrine finished on the west side of the church to house the Pieta statue removed from the old church.

Last four large Nave stained glass windows installed

Installed hand carved stations of the cross that were made in Genon, Italy

Started to use a temporary altar, obtained from seminary, facing the people and the first lay commentators used.

Father Cyrus Gallagher O.F.M. Cap. celebrated his first solemn Mass at St Mary's Church

First Mass celebrated in the private home of an ill parishioner by Father Patrick McGann O.F.M.Cap. (40 Present)

Bid Awarded to Scatena Studio of Pittsburgh to decorate and Paint the inside of the church

The Father Provincial approved of purchasing, from St Mary's Parish, A Capuchin Friars Plot along Bonniebrook road.

Mural of the Blessed Virgin Mary was applied to the back wall of the Sanctuary using Sgraffito

Painting and decorating of the church completed

Mr Frank Ciotti signed option to purchase St. Fidelis Seminary

Capuchin Province notified St. Mary's parish council that St. Mary's Hall and the rooms behind it would be deeded to St. Mary's Parish

Christian Mothers of St Mary's reorganized after lapse of 8 years

Plans for the new parking lot was shown and approved by parish council

October, 1989

 

Large pines removed for new parking lot

New parking lot completed

Celebration of the 140th Anniversary of St Mary's school

The Capuchin Hermitage moved into a portion of St. Mary's Hall
